He came riding into Jerusalem on that Sunday....palms laid before Him, people singing, praising, and dare we say....dancing. But what we never talk much about was the donkey...the fact that it was not just any donkey, but one that had been tied up...never been ridden...tethered down so its intended purpose had never been fulfilled...until Jesus put it into motion. It was meant for Him...and he described to his disciples precisely where it was located...where two roads meet at a certain spot. So let me see if I get this right....it was not being used for what He created it for....it was tied up at a crossroads...unable to move....unable to accomplish anything....sooner or later to die right where it was. But He knew exactly where it was...He knew all along...and He had something special in mind for it.Never doubt that He knows right where you are...and knows your crossroads well.
We are called to love......we are called to the broken, the poor, the beautiful humanity living on the margins of what we call society. If we don't answer this call our whole life goes into voice mail...the mailbox becomes full....and no one can get through to us
He is... El Shaddai.... Jehovah....Elohim... Yahweh... Adonai...He is all these things. But Jesus came to reveal Him to us as something much more intimate. Abba. Father. Abba. Daddy. I can boast of the beauty of Adonai and the power of Jehovah God....but in times of trouble...I will always whisper. "Abba."
